Teaching & Mentoring

I studied my postgraduate MA at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Learning & Teaching. I was Further Education Development Manager at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig (UHI) and am currently Business Development Manager at the College.

I am a qualified Coach and trained with RD 1st. I often use coaching technique when mentoring writers and in the script development process. I've written a series of posts about that here.

I have run learning experiences and worked as a writer mentor for organisations such as Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, The Scottish Book Trust, the National Theatre of Scotland, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Moniack Mhor.

I have written about the importance of mentoring in these two articles: Mentors and On Mentors you never meet.

Workshops range in duration and number of participants, from working for a day with 25 writers for the 'Traverse Fifty' season, to week-long residential courses at Moniack Mhor and with the National Theatre of Scotland.

Subjects covered range from introductory workshops for young people, to residential courses on writing radio & theatre for professionals.

I have also worked as a grant writer on large scale educational projects, up to budgets of £450k.
